Cómo Escoger el mejor cristal espía pera tu hide

En 2009 constituimos PHOTO LOGISTICS. Nuestra visión era crear una empresa de servicios a los fotógrafos de naturaleza que suministrara los mejores hides para las especies más emblemáticas de la fauna ibérica con todos los requisitos que tenemos los fotógrafos. Y un punto clave era seleccionar el mejor cristal espía.

En aquellos momentos habíamos oído hablar que en Bence Mate usaba unos cristales que permitían ver y disparar la cámara sin ser vistos. Pronto tuvimos referencias que en Jose Ruíz Benito había probado esta técnica en hide sus con excelentes resultados.

La principal ventaja de usar un cristal es que la persona que hace fotografías desde el hide puede mover el objetivo con toda liberado de movimientos sin que el animal vea ningún cambio en el exterior del vidrio. También ayuda a insonorizar.

Pero, no todos los cristales son iguales. Nosotros tuvimos que hacer una investigación a fondo para tener los mejores cristales en nuestros hides.
En el momento de seleccionar un cristal debemos tener en cuenta:

- el grosor. Cuanto más fino mejor? Sí, pero hasta un límite. Por debajo de 4 mm los cristales pueden mostrar pequeñas flexiones que dan aberraciones ópticas.

- el revestimiento. Seleccionamos cristales tintados, no con lámina adherida.

- el tamaño. Cuanto más grande mejor? No siempre es así. Hay que adaptar el tamaño del cristal en el tipo de fotografía que se quiere hacer. Para fotografiar un ave en posadero no necesitamos grandes cristales. Y si es muy grande puede dejar de funcionar correctamente.

- el interior del hide debe ser oscuro, cuanto más mejor.

- evitemos la luz directa incidente sobre el cristal, en estas condiciones no funciona.

- evitemos ropa clara y limpiar el vidrio con papel o paño claro ante las aves

By the time we start working we had heard that Bence Mate used glasses that allowed the photographers to see and shoot their cameras without being seen. We soon had references that Jose Ruíz Benito had tried this technique on his own hide with excellent results.
The main advantage of using a one way glass is that the person taking pictures from the hide can move the lens while the animal can see no change on the outside of the hide. It also helps to hide the sound of the camera.
But, not all the one way glasses are the same. We had to do a thorough investigation to have the best ones in our hides.
When selecting a one way glass we should think about:

- thickness. The thinner the better? Yes, but up to a limit. Below 4 mm the glass can show small bends that give optical aberrations.

- the coating. We select stained glass, not with an adhered foil.

- the size. The bigger the better? Is not always that way. You have to adapt the size of the glass to the type of photography you want to take. For a bird on a stick we do not need large pieces. And if it is very large, it may stop working properly.

- the inside of the hide must be dark, the more the better.

- we avoid direct light incident on the glass, in these conditions it does not work.

- Avoid wearing light colours clothing and cleaning the glass with a piece of paper or a clear cloth when the birds are close.
