The Texas Analogy

Here I describe the analogy I came up with that compares Ukraine with Texas, in order to help my American friends understand the politics between Ukraine and Russia. This is by no means a perfect analogy, but by putting the war into terms and locations that are more familiar, I hope it helps people to understand at least a little bit better.

Fun Fact: Ukraine and Texas are roughly the same geographical size.

Fun Fact #2: I chose Fox News as the example for a reason. I normally don’t trust the big media in America. But from what we have seen and heard, Fox News is doing the worst job at covering the war, and CNN is doing the best. Not to say that Fox News never gets it right and CNN never gets it wrong, but that’s typically how it goes. If you’re shocked by this, trust me, so are we.

2. Send supplies to Ukraine. The shelves are running low after just a week. Many places are doing donation drives and then sending it to Ukraine. Check in your local area and see what is available.
3. Contact your governments and ask them to stand with Ukraine by sending military support. The US and UK agreed to protect Ukraine if it gave up nuclear weapons according to the 1994 Budapest Memorandum. Call your representatives (https://democracy.io/#!/ ) and senators (https://www.senate.gov/senators/senators-contact.htm ). To contact the White House go here (https://www.whitehouse.gov/contact/ ) Also call the U.N. We are being subjected to air raids every night. If the skies were closed Ukraine has an even greater fighting chance. I know they are scared of WWIII but the truth is it is already here. Ask them when they think Putin will stop? He won’t.
4. Pray. Please pray. We have seen so many miracles of God’s goodness at work. So many testimonies that we will hopefully be able to share when things settle down.
