How to Ride the AnyTerrain Four-Wheel Electric Bike | Full Guide & Demo

Thinking about riding a four-wheel e-bike for the first time? In this video, Dustin from Sixthreezero — with nearly 20 years of experience in the bike and e-bike industry — walks you through everything you need to know to confidently ride the AnyTerrain Four-Wheel Electric Bike.

This isn’t your typical two-wheel e-bike. With four wide tires (20x4 inches in the rear and 16x4 in the front), four hydraulic disc brakes, and a unique tilting steering system, the AnyTerrain offers a completely different riding experience. It’s more stable than a tricycle and handles differently than a traditional bike, making it perfect for riders looking for extra balance, comfort, and versatility.

▶ Controls & Features Right up front on the handlebars, you’ve got all your controls. There's a thumb throttle for smooth acceleration, five levels of pedal assist, gear shifters like you'd find on a 10-speed bike, a horn, and even turn signals. Whether you want to cruise casually or climb steep hills, you can mix pedal assist and gear levels to match your comfort and terrain.

Pro tip: You can change assist levels at any time — stopped or moving — but gear shifting should only be done while in motion. Leave the bike in one gear if you're new to it, and get comfortable with the motor assist first.

▶ Handling & Steering Unlike a regular bike, leaning doesn’t steer the AnyTerrain. Instead, you need to turn the handlebars, much like a quad or car. This setup, combined with the tilting front wheels and long frame, provides excellent stability and smooth handling. If you've ever ridden a trike and felt it pull to one side, you’ll appreciate how balanced this four-wheeler feels.

Dustin demonstrates exactly how to make tight turns, steer safely, and use your body weight effectively when needed. He also highlights the key differences in cornering, especially for riders transitioning from traditional bikes.

▶ Navigating Curbs & Sidewalks This part is critical for safety. When approaching or exiting curbs, always hit them straight on. Coming off at an angle or with only part of your wheels on level ground can destabilize the bike. Dustin shows real-world examples of what not to do and how to manage sidewalk transitions without tipping.

▶ Throttle vs. Pedal Assist Both the throttle and pedal assist offer unique advantages. Dustin prefers using the throttle for tight turns or starting from a stop. However, when climbing hills or covering longer distances, combining pedal assist with the right gear makes for an easier and more efficient ride. Just remember: the throttle might not carry you up steep inclines alone depending on your weight and terrain — that’s where pedal assist shines.

▶ Braking & Downhill Riding At 120 pounds, the AnyTerrain isn’t light. That means you’ll want to ease into the brakes on downhill slopes. Dustin recommends using both brake levers evenly and gradually to stay in control. Don’t bomb down hills and slam the brakes — smooth braking keeps you safe.

▶ Reverse Mode Yes, there’s a reverse function! It comes in handy for tight spots or backing out of a tricky position. Just another feature that makes this e-bike stand out.

▶ Turning Like a Pro When making a turn, especially sharp ones, don’t follow just the front wheels like you might on a traditional bike. Always account for the wide rear end. Picture driving a U-Haul: if you cut corners too tight, the back wheels could hit the curb. Give yourself extra space and check your surroundings before turning fully.
