Alcohols Advanced 5. Oxidation Test: 1-ary & 2-ary from 3-ary.
Must see: My new website at http://ww.acechemistry.co.uk.
This video looks at the use of acidified potassium dichromate solution to distinguish primary and secondary alcohols from tertiary alcohols. The tests are both demonstrated and explained (in terms of the redox chemistry and structures of the alcohols). This is one in a series of videos looking at the chemistry of alcohols (alkanols).
