When it comes to wielding the four-string bass guitar, few have the chops, groove and inventiveness of Marcus Miller. Seriously, this guy is super talented.

Since his heady introduction to the New York studio scene in the mid-70s, Marcus has been landing dream gigs with the likes of Luther Vandross, Miles Davis, Herbie Hancock, Aretha Franklin, Paul Simon, Frank Sinatra, Stevie Wonder, Jay Z and Chaka Khan.

He’s also forged a solid solo career, formed a bass supergroup with Stanley Clarke and Victor Wooten, and made a name for himself as one of the greatest slap bass players of all-time.

In today’s new video, I’m counting down my top ten Marcus Miller bass lines.
