This is a full build video of Panzer III Ausf.D from MiniArt
Panzer III.D was the last pre-production version of the tank and around 30 of it were built. They saw some action in Poland and Norway and were converted into commander's vehicles at some point.
The video features some basic and intermediate modeling techniques as well as some pro tips and tricks used in the process of building a model. There are many substitutes for each step of that build, as well as many different approaches towards resolving any particular problem. I chose these for the video of that kit just because I am familiar with them and not because they are the best way to do it. Example for that are the mask sets used in the video. DN Models' masks are not popular like Eduard or Montex, but among armor modelers are already known. Michael RInaldi uses those in TankArt 4 and this video features them as well. They are not mandatory in order to get similar result of course. You can do it with decals instead.
I hope the step by step video will be helpful for the fans of Miniart and not only. Modeling is an art form, and this is only my perspective of dealing with it. I hope you will enjoy!
Panzer III was a medium tank developed in the 1930s by Germany and was used extensively in World War II. The official German designation was Panzerkampfwagen III Sd.Kfz. 141 (abbreviated PzKpfw III) translating as "armoured fighting vehicle". It was intended to fight other armoured fighting vehicles and serve alongside the support Panzer IV; however, as the Germans faced the formidable T-34, stronger anti-tank guns were needed. Since the Panzer IV had a bigger turret ring, the roles were reversed. The Panzer IV mounted the long-barrelled 7.5 cm KwK 40 gun and engaged in tank-to-tank battles. The Panzer III became obsolete in this role and for most purposes was supplanted by the Panzer IV. From 1942, the last version of Panzer III mounted the 7.5 cm KwK 37 L/24, better suited for infantry support. Production of the Panzer III ended in 1943. However, the Panzer III's capable chassis provided hulls for the Sturmgeschütz III assault gun until the end of the war.
