Have you ever thought you’ve known someone, and then you turn around and it’s like they’ve been hiding a huge secret from you for years? Sometimes actors are doing that to us and we don’t even realize it. Great actors, like Meryl Streep and Kate Winslet, are known for disappearing into their roles. Method actors are sometimes so committed they stay in character 24/7 so some people don’t know where their character ends and the normal person begins. Everything from their hair to their walk to even their accents is different from how they are in real life. That last feature is particularly noteworthy: Nailing an accent is no easy feat, so it's mesmerizing to watch pros like Streep and Winslet weave in and out of so many dialects with ease. It almost makes you forget what the actresses' actual accents are. Well, maybe not in Winslet and Streep's cases specifically; they're two of the biggest, most famous stars on the planet, so their nationalities aren't exactly a secret. But there are plenty of actors in Hollywood whose fake-accent game is so good that you'd be surprised to learn where they're really from. Some of these actors hail from other countries and we’ve thought they were Americans this whole time- THAT’S how good their accents have been. Other times, you’re absolutely convinced that an American star has been from another country this whole time, and you’re jsut now learning it from a particular movie or television show they happen to appear in. Other times, the very thing that reveals their truth to us is their interviews and acceptance speeches. Seriously, some of these stars have had us fooled for years!
