Crossing from Oregon into Washington over the Columbia River (drive-lapse, Oct 2018)

The Astoria-Megler Bridge opened in 1966 and is the longest continuous truss bridge in North America, and was the final segment of U.S. Route 101 to be completed between Olympia, Washington, and Los Angeles, California.

This is an instrumented and mapped #dashcam #drivelapse at 3X speed, driving along US Route 101 northbound through Warrenton, Oregon, across the New Youngs Bay Bridge, through Astoria, Oregon, across the #AstoriaMeglerBridge into Washington State, turning onto Washington State Route 401, continuing alongside the Columbia River for a bit, then ending just past Dismal Nitch.

Recorded on a cloudy day, October 29, 2018. Music licensed from Audiomicro.com.

The camera used didn't have stabilization, so the video was stabilized after the fact through software, which gives the cloudy sky a bit of a weird look sometimes. On parts of the bridge the interval of the guardrails interacts with the framerate and speed of the video to produce some interesting effects.
