Day #8 - Spleen Cleansing Exercise - 30 Days of Qigong to Better Health - Chris Shelton Qigong
Welcome to Day 8 of your 30 Days of Qigong to Better Health. Today Chris begins with the importance of the smooth function of the Spleen, which works in conjunction with the Stomach.
It's function is absolutely fundamental to the health of the body - transforming food and liquid into blood. It keeps the blood circulating normally within the vessels. The Spleen holds the negative emotions of worry, anxiety, over-intellectualizing, pessimism, as well as the positive virtues of peace of mind, balance and centeredness.
Chris demonstrates two ways of practicing the Spleen Cleansing Exercise. Both are effective, and you should do the one which is easier for you.
Before beginning the exercise, however, Chris reemphasizes the importance of proper body alignment, which provides the ways and means for smooth energetic flow. This proper alignment is called the Wu Ji Posture, where "wu" means none, and "ji" means extreme. It is a way of standing that has no extremes. It is sometimes called the "emptiness" posture.
