How This Sketch Became a Boss – Stylized Character for My Unity Game

In this video, I show how a simple 2D sketch turned into a full 3D boss character for my Unity game.

I start with a rough drawing and model the character in Maya using a lightweight, stylized approach that fits my solo dev workflow. From there, I bring the finished asset into Unity 6 and test it in-game, focusing on clean shape language, fast iteration, and visual clarity without complexity.

Along the way, I explore design decisions like:

Making the boss feel distinct from other characters

Testing outline vs. no-outline styles

Using angry vs. neutral eyes to signal enemy or friendly roles

Keeping topology and features minimal for speed and reuse

🎮 Game built in Unity 6

➕ This is Devlog 07 in my solo game dev series. Each video stands on its own, so feel free to jump in wherever interests you most.
