There are many ways to find a center line, and I'm familiar with probably most of them. I own several edge finders, along with many other location devices, that I have used probably more than a thousand times in my 28 years of machining. What I show in the video is by no means the go-to method of finding a center, nor do I express that in the video. It is only meant to give you a quick approximation of center.

I show you a technique to quickly find the center line of a piece of round stock in the mill. This was shown to me by an old time machinist many years ago, and it has been a tool I've been using ever since. Of course there are other ways to find center of round stock. I'm familiar with the other methods as well. This is just one of many.
