*How to Create Product categories and subcategories in WordPress*

1. *Log in to your WordPress Dashboard:* Access your WordPress admin panel by entering your credentials.

2. *Install and Activate an eCommerce Plugin:* If you haven't already, install an eCommerce plugin like WooCommerce, which is one of the most popular plugins for setting up online stores in WordPress. Go to "Plugins" , "Add New," search for "WooCommerce," install it, and activate it.

3. *Access the Product Categories Section:* Once WooCommerce is activated, go to your WordPress Dashboard and navigate to "Products" , "Categories."

4. *Add a New Product Category:*
- Click on "Add Category."
- Enter the name of the main product category in the "Name" field.
- Slug: WordPress generates a slug based on the category name. You can edit this if needed.
- Parent Category: If this category is a subcategory, select its parent category. If it's a main category, leave this option blank.
- Description: You can add a description to provide more details about the category.
- Click on the "Add New Category" button to save your changes.

5. *Create Subcategories:*
- Follow similar steps to create subcategories under main categories:
- Go to "Products" , "Categories."
- Click on "Add Category."
- Enter the subcategory name in the "Name" field.
- Set the parent category by choosing the appropriate main category in the "Parent Category" dropdown.
- Add a description if necessary.
- Click "Add New Category" to save the subcategory.

6. *Assign Products to Categories:*
- After creating categories and subcategories, you can assign products to them.
- Go to "Products" , "All Products."
- Edit the product you want to categorize or add a new product.
- In the product editor, find the "Product Categories" box on the right-hand side.
- Check the categories and subcategories you want to assign to the product.
- Update or publish the product to save changes.

Following these steps should help you create product categories and subcategories effectively in WordPress, specifically using WooCommerce for eCommerce functionalities.
