What's My Line? - Carol Channing: "Intros Are a Girl's Best Friend" [CLIPS VIDEO]

Here are all those deliciously delirious parody introductions the wacky Carol Channing made in her appearances on the WML panel, brilliantly spoofing the increasingly puffed-up and long-winded openings that developed as the series aged.

Sadly, Carol's first appearance on the panel Sept 20, 1964 is one of the handful of shows after July 1952 considered to be lost today. I don't know whether she did one of these special intros in that first appearance, but according to Gil Fates, Carol's husband Charles Lowe was stooped in front of her out of camera shot with cue cards, which would explain how she was able to get through these things so flawlessly on a live program with no retakes. There's really no clear visual evidence of cue cards in any of these surviving intros, but if she did her first nutty intro in that lost show, it's possible Lederer was holding cue cards for that one.
