India’s lowest caste, known as Dalits, and other marginalized groups are on the front lines of India’s pandemic crisis. As crematorium workers, they are not only exposed to the virus but, as many say, they also lack access to vaccines and health care. Beyond the pandemic, these marginalized groups face suffering from long-lasting economic strains.

We take a look inside the Dalit community’s struggle to cope, amid the government’s insufficient response to the crisis.
