Duo De Oro Concert - Mariupol TV, Ukraine.mov

So, 2009-2010 I was living in Mariupol, Ukraine. It had been a gray winter so I participated in a concert at the local downtown theatre. I felt like we all needed to "feel a little sunshine" in our lives.
It was a shoestring budget, in a tough economy. (think: $100/month salary kind of tough.) Most residents were suffering in one way or another. Tickets were equivalent to $1 in a 500 seater, and there was myself, a string trio, 3 or 4 local dancers. (not flamenco, but with serious training!), and a full compliment of theatre staff.
The theatre had a hole in the roof. I vividly recall watching snow falling down onto the stage illuminated by a few spotlights in an otherwise dark theatre. It was beautiful, but I layered on the clothing just so my fingers would move.
The audience was lovely, and I think all involved benefited from what we created and shared that evening. The hospitality that was offered from the theatre management was unequaled. We were treated to an enormous feast afterwards. I will never forget it.
Mariupol and the people of Ukraine will always have a place in my heart. #staystrongUkraine
