A new airport for me, so I couldn't resist taking some time to get some footage from this incredible airport. Filmed from Bayfront Park. Now SFO is known for its parallel runway action. You'll see a lot of it in this video. With Runway 01L & 01R being used for the majority of departures and Runway 28L & 28R being used for arrivals and any heavy or longhaul departures. The runways cross over, so you do need to have eyes in the back of your head really for filming. While recording movements on the longer runway 28's, you can see I was regularly interrupted by departures from runway 01L/R as soon as the intersection is clear. So departures were going up in several directions... And in parallel. Absolutely awesome to see. There are no airports in the UK where the runways cross over each other so departures go in different directions. Its all about perspective, there's some shots where it looks like the aircraft are going to land on top of each other. There's a 757 race between United & Delta and an Alaskan ERJ175 race both landing onto RWY28L & R at the same time.
Note, there are no United 777's in this video with Pratt & Whitney engines. All 777-300's operated by United are GE90 powered and the 777-200's featured in this video are the ones also fitted with GE engines, not the PW.
