DAY 3: Lonely Streets in Kuala Lumpur (bicycle dinner ride)
Riding my cargobike to buy paper-wrapped chicken for dinner on the "lonely streets" of Kuala Lumpur during this coronavirus pandemic. It is the 3rd day of the lockdown, or rather the confined movement order set by the Malaysian government.
It is not fun to be restricted to the confines of the home. So, meal-time has become a highlight of the day, as picking up takeaway food from restaurants and/or going to the supermarket is still allowed.
Today, I am going to for some good Chinese food, namely at Restaurant Soo Kee Mee (on the street Jalan Khoo Teik Ee), where they serve up a delicious paper-wrapped chicken. The restaurant was open and the auntie working the wok recognized me, as I used to be a regular at this restaurant 14-15 years ago :-)
I live next to the main party street, Jalan Changkat Bukit Bintang, in Kuala Lumpur. And on Friday evenings / nights, the street would be super busy and bustling with people having a good time. Not so on this Friday!

0:03 My electric cargobike (Ominum)
2:10 Ringing by bicycle bell. Will the guards hear me and open the gate???
2:27 Bicycle ride starts
3:40 Crossing Jalan Sultan Ismail, the main street of Kuala Lumpur. Very little traffic for Friday rush-hour.
6:30 TRX Exchange high-rise, the so-called Signature Tower
6:59 Arriving at Restaurant Soo Kee Mee
7:14 Auntie at the wok, nice to talk to :-)
7:34 Auntie tells me: "Park your Rolls-Royce" while pointing to my cargobike. LOL :-)
8:29 Switching on the pedal assist electric motor while riding the cargobike. Not ideal, but can be done ;-)
10:51 Reaching peak speed of 50 km/h during short downhill stretch
11:27 Riding through the party street of Kuala Lumpur, Jalan Changkat Bukit Bintang with lots of bars, restaurants and entertainment at 7 pm on Friday 20 March 2020. Normally, it would be buzzing with people, but not today. The establishments are all closed, and the streets are devoid of people - as should be the case during a global virus pandemic.
12:22 Returning 11 pm to the party street, the time that activity at Jalan Changkat Bukit Bintang normally peaks, but the street is completely dead. Traffic is so scarce that I can even easily walk in the middle of the street.
12:39 Before-and-after photo of Jalan Changkat Bukit Bintang, aka before and after COVID-19
13:14 One more before-and-after photo of the party street, aka before and after the coronavirus pandemic hit Malaysia.
13:24 Popular establishment as Rabbit Hole and Havana Bar are all closed for the moment.

My Omnium cargobike is from Denmark, but available on their webshop. I got mine delivered within 1 week of ordering it! Several viewers asked about the bike, so here are the details.
Website: https://omniumcargo.dk/
Price: RM10,000 (USD2500) for the cargobike without electric motor
Price: RM15,000 (USD3750) for the cargobike with electric motor, which is the one I have. The electric motor is a Shimano STEPS 8000 power unit. Motor power is 250 W (the max limit allowed in the EU), the battery stores 0.5 kWh of electricity, giving a range of 80-100 km, and only costing RM0.20 (USD0.05) to charge. Cheap operating expenses :-)
