Reinecke | Staccato | Playing Staccato (in minor!)

Staccato by Carl Reineke

"Staccato" is the name for the musical articulation in which we play notes short (as opposed to legato, in which we play notes long and connected). The ability to present a clear difference between staccato and legato articulations plays a big part in how musical a piece will sound. In this etude by Carl Reineke we get to practice this contrast between staccato and legato as it plays out over a somewhat unusual rhythmic structure. Liberty Park Music piano teacher West Troiano instructs.
