Building STRONG & LIGHTWEIGHT Upper Cabinets - Part 1 | Van Life Build

This video, we're building the main structure of our overhead cabinets. Deciding to use only HALF inch baltic birch plywood required a lot of thought and strategy. A couple mistakes were made along the way, but we can confirm this method to LIGHTWEIGHT overhead cabinets WORKS. Spoiler Alert: We now beautiful and STURDY lightweight upper cabinets that aren't budging.

So if you're looking to have lightweight upper cabinets using half inch baltic birch plywood versus 3/4 or 1 inch, we highly recommend following our approach. Just make sure you use 3/4" wood for the doors if you intend to use inset hinges and gas struts.
