TCL TV Screen Black? Don't Buy New! Girl Replaces LED Strips - Saved $500

Is your TCL 55" TV completely black but you can still hear sound? This is almost always caused by burnt LED backlights. In this video, I test the power supply, check the LED voltage, then test each LED strip. Watch me replace them and bring this TCL TV back to life!

The problem: This TCL 55-inch TV had sound - you could hear the menu and audio - but the screen was completely black. No picture, no image, nothing .

Step 1: Testing the power supply
🔹 I opened the TV and used my multimeter to test all power supply voltages
🔹 All voltages were normal - power board was working fine

Step 2: Testing the LED voltage
🔹 I checked the voltage going to the LED backlights
🔹 The voltage was present - power was reaching the LEDs
🔹 But NO light was coming out

Step 3: Testing the LED strips directly
🔹 I used my multimeter in diode mode to test each LED strip
🔹 A good LED should light up dimly when tested
🔹 These LEDs showed NO light at all - completely dead

The diagnosis: The LED backlights were burnt and needed replacement

The fix:
🔹 Carefully removed the LCD panel (extremely fragile!)
🔹 Took out all the old, burnt LED strips
🔹 Installed brand new LED strips
🔹 Reassembled everything carefully
🔹 Tested the result

The result: The TV came back to life! Beautiful, bright picture - good as new! ✨

Test What to do Result
1. Flashlight test Shine light on screen in dark room Faint image = bad backlight
2. Power supply Test all voltages with multimeter All normal = keep looking
3. LED voltage Test voltage to LED strips Voltage present = LEDs are the problem
4. LED test Test each LED strip directly No light = LEDs are burnt
If all tests point to LEDs, replacement is the solution!

• The LCD panel is extremely fragile. One wrong move can crack it. Work on a soft, clean surface .
• TVs contain high voltage even after unplugging. Be patient and careful .
• LED strips must match your exact TCL model. Different models use different strips .
