🔍 Part 41: Adding Seam Allowance
To add seam allowance, select the outline of your patten or panels with the direct selection tool. Click object, path, and offset path. Add the seam allowance width to the offset input box in either cm or. Tick the preview box to give you a live preview of your pattern with the new seam allowance.

If your seam allowance has been applied to the inside of your pattern, this means that your pattern is not joined or complete. There is a break somewhere in your pattern outline. Cancel the offset path, return to your pattern, and make sure you have joined all lines and points to create a complete pattern.

Once you’ve completed your pattern add the seam allowance.

To remove seam allowance from fold lines, click the seam allowance line with your direct selection tool and drag it to meet the Centre front pattern line. You can hold down shift on your keyboard to lock the move to the horizontal axis.
