Leviathan is a steel roller coaster in the Medieval Faire section of the park at Canada's Wonderland in Vaughan, Ontario, Canada.[5] It is the first roller coaster made by Swiss manufacturer Bolliger & Mabillard to exceed the 300-foot mark.[6] At 5,486 feet (1,672 m) long, 306 feet (93 m) tall, and with a top speed of 92 miles per hour (148 km/h), Leviathan is the tallest and fastest coaster in Canada.[8][9][10] Leviathan is also ranked as the seventh tallest, and the eighth fastest roller coaster in the world.[11] It is also the 16th roller coaster at Canada's Wonderland. On 7 February 2012, the ride's track was completed while the first test run was completed on 15 March 2012. The coaster opened on 27 April 2012 to only people who had season passes. It opened to the public on 6 May, 2012.

History
First speculation for a new roller coaster at Canada's Wonderland began in early 2011 when construction work started to begin around Dragon Fire and the Go Karts. On 28 July 2011, Canada's Wonderland launched a teaser website through their Facebook page. The website featured a countdown clock to 18 August 2011, at 7:00 am. The website also featured a series of quotes from online theme park reporters as well as Cedar Fair's CEO.[19] Quotes included: "If I ride only one ride in 2012, this is the one!"; "This is the one I've been waiting for!" and "We have always loved breaking records. Congratulations, Wonderland!".[19] In early August 2011, it was discovered that the ride would be manufacturered by Bolliger & Mabillard after parts started to arrive on site.
Leviathan was officially announced by Canada's Wonderland at 7:00 am on 18 August 2011. It was announced live on Breakfast Television Toronto, during Citytv Day at the park.
The coaster's first track pieces went up during the week of 11 September 2011.[25] As of 27 September 2011, the brake-run and station portions of the track were completed.[26] On 18 October 2011, standing at 120 feet long, the coasters longest and heaviest lift hill track piece was installed.[27] On 18 November 2011, the lift hill and drop were finished with the overbank turn nearing completion.[28] By 12 December 2011, half of Leviathan's track sections had been installed.[29][30] On 7 February 2012, the track for Leviathan was completed.[14] The first test run was completed on 15 March 2012.[15]
On 18 April 2012, Canada's Wonderland announced that a 100 foot tunnel would be placed at the bottom of the first drop of Leviathan.
