Series: Every Guitar Has a Voice | Episode 1 | George Lowden | Acoustic Guitar Tonewoods
The Lowden guitar reflects the very personal approach and philosophy of its designer, George Lowden. In this series, George comments on the aspects that contribute to the Lowden voice.
He explains it like this - "Designing and building guitars is a matter of the wood choice first, the design second and the workmanship third. All woods give slightly different tonal responses and I will often advise players which might suit them best according to their playing style."
When a player decides to choose a Lowden, it is because the guitar speaks to them. Something in its unique sound and the craftsmanship which goes into the building of it captures the heart.
The Lowden Original series was first developed back in 1976 and features all solid AAA grade tonewoods and all wood bindings and purflings and rosette.
The Lowden 35 Series is for the serious player who can appreciate a whole new world of subtle tone colours and dynamic range. George says, "The longer I go on, the more I love them for their slightly understated beauty, their subtle use of figured and beautiful woods, not to mention their superb tonal definition and separation."
In the Lowden 50 Series (Custom Shop), players are offered the exciting opportunity to mix & match from specially selected and reserved Master Grade tonewoods, including some of the finest figured woods available anywhere , with tonal response to match.
