I received a comment on my Buzz Lightyear video stating that they couldn't relate to why I was feeling so emotional after watch the video (https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZTBm8sfx8/). In the video, a mom was showing her son a Buzz Lightyear jacket and asked him if he wanted it. The son said he didn't like Buzz Lightyear anymore. Then the video cuts to him being obsessed with Buzz Lightyear from when he was a baby to that point - flashes of him growing up with Buzz.

In that moment, the mom realized he was growing up and moved on. It's a heartbreaking part of motherhood and it really affected me. I, along with most moms, were hysterical after watching the video.

I've definitely felt that feeling before, and it was with a childhood friend. Details were changed a little bit, but you get the drift. But I don't think the emotions are unique to being a parent. It's about evolving and growing being bittersweet. Mourning the past but still excited for the future.
