Stages:
Centred around Otepää in south Estonia, regarded as the country’s winter capital. Otepää means ’Ott’s Head’ in the South Estonian dialect. Mr Tänak should feel at home then.......
Begins on Friday evening with the short Tartu (1.28km) stage next to the Raadi service park.
Saturday features well over half the rally’s competitive distance with 146.40km of action. It starts with the weekend’s longest stage Prangli (20.23km), which is followed by Kanepi. Otepää, Mäeküla and Elva round off the morning and all five tests are repeated after service.
Sunday follows a similar format. Early morning stages in Arula, Kaagvere and Kambja are repeated, with the latter forming the rally-closing Wolf Power Stage.
The 17 tests cover 232.64km.


Iconic Stage:

Saturday’s 9.60km Otepää test, previously known as Rüa, is a classic which has been part of Rally Estonia from the first year back in 2010. The fast and flowing roads contain many technical crests and tight corners. The highlight is the Alaküla jump, where cars fly almost 40 metres.

New for 2020:
Everything as far as the WRC is concerned. It’s the first time Estonia has appeared in the championship and the country becomes the 33rd nation to stage a championship round since the series started in 1973.

Top Highlights:
The opportunity for Estonian fans to watch world champion Ott Tänak driving on home roads in the WRC.
Fans will head to Saturday’s Otepää test to watch the spectacular Alaküla jump. The good news for lovers of the high-fliers is that the test is driven in the morning and again in the afternoon.

Challenge:
Super-fast, smooth and technical gravel roads, with numerous jumps and crests, demand pin-point pace note accuracy. At such pace there is no room for error.
Many drivers and co-drivers have no experience of Estonia’s stages and must prepare notes from a blank piece of paper.
The speed. The last time the WRC’s drivers encountered such fast roads was more than a year ago at the 2019 Neste Rally Finland.
Rustiness. Competitors will have been away from WRC competition for almost six months but must reacclimatise quickly.


Car spec:

Gravel suspension.
Packed gravel roads mean medium compound tyres will be the template choice, but soft compound rubber is also available.
