It's mandatory for all those coming into Hong Kong from a high risk area, like Toronto, to complete a 21 day isolation period. During this time, you are not allowed to leave the hotel room at all until the isolation period is complete, which included going into the hallway, lobby, etc. Also, you need to complete temperature checks twice daily, and the health department comes once a week to test you for Covid. The only way you'll be leaving the room is if you complete the 21 days and are able to leave freely or that you've tested positive for Covid, which you will then be escorted to another location specifically to house those who have it.
