Nothing in Common, s1203 Bridge the Distance with a Tableau Scaffold
In this video, I’m getting into the weeds of how to bridge tables that aren't related in Tableau. If you’ve ever struggled to connect two data sources that have "nothing in common," this exercise is for you. We’re using a simple data scaffold and some calculated fields to build a functional bridge.
*THE "WHY" BEHIND THE DATA*
As a worker bee capturing metadata, I’ve realized it’s not just about metrics—it’s about the logic behind the metric. This scaffold creates semantic and data mapping layers that map out:
► Owner Persona & Favorable Trends
► Math Formulas & Logical Conditions
► Null Handling, Cardinality, & Refresh Frequency
Data doesn’t have a single author; it has a committee of perspectives for how a metric is collectively defined. This example leverages the Data Mapping Files to provide a logic review in real-time from the viewpoint of each persona involved and demonstrates the clear _*deterministic intent*_ outlined in the mapping logic.
