CAT 3126B/E Injectors Part 2 - Installation

DIY Injector Service HEUI Hydraulically actuated Electronically Unit Injection. The Caterpillar ECU controls the solenoid. The fuel transfer pump delivers fuel through ports in the head. The high pressure oil pump supplies hydraulic power to the injector.

I found that the unit had two failing injectors and only two injectors with the right part numbers. So, I replaced them all with quality reman and tested units from:

Mylex also offers these on eBay and they allow 30 days for core return without a deposit. Real nice, if you need to stay up and running.

It is important to torque the bolts down as described. The first bolt should pull and rock the clamp down without pressure against the second bolt. Then tighten the second bolt.

I could not tap the injector under the lip of the firewall down due to no clearance. I just used the block of wood and a pry bar to push it down.

Using great care not to drop anything down the oil galley, the job was a success. I will now pump and flush fuel through the head by removing the pressure valve on the back of the head. Then I will change the oil and filter before starting it up.

If you are quoted a price of $4000 to replace injectors on your Cat 3126 B/E, maybe DIY is the only real choice.
