DKW F89P Project Update - the engine

The engine of my 1954 DKW F89P car was seized and despite having soaked the cylinders in diesel oil and thinners for over nine months, it was stuck fast. During the lockdown I was able to spend more time slowly levering the engine block away from the crank case. It was a long, slow process but once things started moving they moved pretty quickly. After five days the block finally separated from the pistons. It's now clear that someone has run the engine without oil in the petrol, resulting in the engine seizing up. I have newly refurbished crankshaft and pistons waiting to be installed.

Next step is to free up the crank from the case. Hopefully this won't take nine months of soaking!
