Using Bluetooth to transmit Smart Port telemetry

In this video I show how to attach a Bluetooth module to your transmitter's SmartPort connector. This can be an S.Port connector on the bottom of the transmitter (for example with an X-Lite), the JR bay, or the SmartPort socket on the back of the FrSky R9M module. Why would you want to do this? There are a couple of reasons. You could want to connect your transmitter to a tablet or PC for use as a ground station, with CrazyDude's android app for example. Another reason could be to set up a Bluetooth link to a U360GTS antenna tracker, to provide it with your model's GPS coordinates.

We will be starting with the bare HC-05 Bluetooth module. I will show how to connect it to your computer with a USB to TTL adaptor. Then we will look at the AT commands used to program the modules. Following on from that, we will add a hardware inverter to the module; this will uninvert the S.Port data. Lastly, I'll show how to connect the device to a Taranis X9D and see the telemetry data on the Telemetry Viewer Android app.
