Phono Troubleshooting And The Trouble Transistors. Vintage Stereo And Audio Repair For The Beginner.

This video details the repair of a Sansui AU-9900 phono section. The left channel was functioning correctly but the right channel had very low output. Only the inputs phono 1 and phono 2 were affected. i use an oscilloscope and signal generator to help find the issue. Five years ago I replaced a 2SA798 transistor in the left channel that had the same issue. After troubleshooting I found that another 2SA798 transistor had failed but this time in the right channel. I have now added the 2SA798 to my troubled transistor list. In the video I show how I used Two 2SA992 modern transistors to replace the obsolete 2SA798. I give details on how to combine the 2SA992 transistors using a Atlas DCA Pro to gain match the transistors. I also use a heat gun along with shrink tubing to combine the 2SA992's for thermal stability.
