Guided By Voices - Bee Sides (Bee Thousand Outtakes)

Bee Thousand is probably Guided By Voices' best album (not a controversial opinion). But, the director's cut, released 10 years later, is definitely not their best album. From the Pitchfork review of the Director's Cut: "Track sequence, it turns out, is really, really important. This new, expanded version of the record includes an early, 33-track sequence. It's spread out over four vinyl sides... Unfortunately, this original sequence is so bafflingly unsatisfying that it might've kept Guided by Voices in the basement for another decade had clearer heads not eventually prevailed." Altering the tracklist might have been a mistake, but presenting the songs as a b-sides, disc 2 or outtakes collection might make for a better listen. Let me know! Enjoy!
