Victoria 'stirring the pot' by committing $50m to vaccine facility

Sky News Political Editor Andrew Clennell says the Victorian government is seeking to “stir the pot” on vaccinations by committing $50 million towards a new mRNA plant that can manufacture vaccines other than AstraZeneca, such as Pfizer and Novavax.

Acting premier James Merlino made the announcement on Wednesday but said it will take at least a year to start the production.

“The Federal government is supportive of this and believes a $1 billion contract it has with CSL over 12 years for a new vaccines plant already opens the mRNA opportunity,” Mr Clennell said.
