Since 1994, the Seoul Opera Ensemble has consistently presented original operas and is now unveiling another opera based in the Joseon era. Transformed into a K-Opera, "Chi Hwa Seon" takes center stage with the subtitle "Jang Seung-eop, the Song of his Mad Soul." [Chi Hwa Seon] is a reinterpretation of the life of 'Ohwon Jang Seung-eop,' who constructed a remarkable world of painting and his unconventional self while enduring the turmoil of the late Joseon era. Experience the life of painter Jang Seung-eop, who roamed the nation and painted freely alongside the people, within a contemporary musical structure through this newly composed modern opera.

Ep.55 [K-STAGE] 조선말 화가의 삶을 노래하다! 오페라 '취화선'

1994년 창단 이후 꾸준히 창작오페라를 선보이고 있는 서울오페라앙상블이 조선 시대를 배경으로 한 또 한 편의 창작물을 공개한다. K-Opera로 거듭난 새로운 형태로 탄생시킨 [취화선]이 그 주인공으로 부제는 "장승업, 그 미친 영혼의 노래"이다.
[취화선]은 격변의 구한말, 시대와의 불화를 겪으면서 기행과 파격적인 자기의 회화 세계를 구축한 '오원 장승업'의 삶을 새롭게 해석한 작품이다.
전국을 떠돌며 자유분방한 그림으로 민중들과 함께한 화가 장승업의 삶을 현대적 음악 구조 속에 넣어서 새롭게 작곡한 현대창작오페라 무대를 만나보자.
