Inside Look Of A Supercapacitor vs Electrolytic Capacitor

Today I decided to tear into one of my $10 supercapacitors and see how similar and/or different they are from standard electrolytic capacitors.

A regular electrolytic capacitor is usually two metals with a membrance in between soaked in an electrolyte.

After opening the supercapacitor, instead of having a soaked membrane, it has dry paper. The conductive "paper" is black, most likely a carbon based coating that was reacting with the air. Once it was exposed to the air it was cool to the touch, and the black didn't really rub off onto my hand. I'm not sure exactly what the black material is made up of.
