A Street Level View of Old (1992) Moscow

A decidedly "non-tourist" tour of Moscow in December 1992, shortly after the collapse of the Soviet Union and the beginning of the Russian Federation. Features the Tushino Airfield, open market, a Soviet-style "mall," many government manufactured cars and trucks and the endless procession of high rise apartment buildings. Background music is Mussorgsky's "Dawn on the Moscow River," from the opera Khovanshchina, which is set in another time of signficant change in Russian history.
