This video goes over how to replace an oil pressure switch on a 2004 Dodge1500 with a 5.7 motor. This should be the same process for any 2002-2008 (3rd Generation) Dodge 1500 with a 5.7 motor. An Oil pressure switch is a device fitting in the engine compartment of a vehicle to monitor engine oil pressure levels and turn on/off corresponding oil pressure warning lights. The oil pressure switch is located on the engine block and monitors the oil pressure. Warning lights and other dash lights usually turn on when you start a car and turn off after a moment to indicate that they are functioning properly. Meanwhile when a car's computer system receives a bad signal from the oil pressure switch it will communicate the information to the ECM which will illuminate the red oil light to stay on. If the red oil light does come on, shut down your vehicle immediately and start by checking your oil. This is something that should be diagnosed thoroughly before running the car so you don't damage your engine.
