Mercury Vs Tungsten - World's HIGHEST Surface Tension

We take a look at mercury's extremely strong surface tension. Mercury is very dense, but what happens if we try to float something even denser, such as a tungsten rod on it? Density is simply a ratio between distilled water and any other substance occupying the same space. It can be a gallon of air and a gallon of water or a ml. of water and a ml. of steel. The ratio is always the same. Can we break through the surface tension of the Hg using soap, or even nitric acid?
