Screen Printing Basics - Another Easy Trick for Lining Up Multiple Colors

Dwayne Collins of Texsource continues his video series on some basic screen printing techniques, this time demonstrating another easy on-press trick for lining up your screens for a multiple color print.

You should always have a clear center line on your pallet; line up the registration marks on your film with the center line and tape the layers of film together once they line up. From there it is easy to bring down your screen (one at a time) and align them to your registration marks for perfect alignment of all colors. Always perform a test print to ensure accuracy.

Dwayne Collins of Texsource shows a unique shortcut for helping to achieve accurate registration when printing multiple colors. This one may not be in the official 'how-to' book, but after 20 years in the screen printing business, you learn a few shortcuts that can save time and money.

This tip is valuable as it uses a shirt or a test pellon for a test print. You won't be able to keep the shirt after doing this, but you can test print multiple times on the same shirt, making your adjustments between prints. You will save significantly in test materials and time when you are trying to line up your artwork.
