Έβγα Γκόλφω μ' στο βουνό, My dear Golfo up the mountain come,
έχω δυο λόγια να σου πω, a couple of words I have for you
να τα πεις τ' αφέντη σου, to tell your master
να του κάψεις την καρδιά. and break his heart.

Βγήκαν κλέφτες στο βουνό Thieves to the mountain came
για να κλέψουν άλογα to steal horses,
κι άλογα δεν ηύρανε and horses didn't find,
προβατάκια πήρανε. the sheep they took.

Αχ! Αχ! πήρανε το λαγιαρνί Ah! Ah! They took the little lamb
που 'χε το χρυσό μαλλί, the one with the golden hair,
το ασημένιο κέρατο silver horn
και το χρυσό κουδούνι. and golden bell.

Προβατάκι μ' My little sheep
κατσικάκι μ' my little goat
λαγιαρνάκι μ' αχ! my precious little lamb! Ah!
Το πήρανε και παν They took it and they left
άιντε μανούλα μ' παν oh mother they did leave
και πίσω δεν κοιτάν. and back they'll never be.
