The Star-Spangled Banner is the national anthem of the United States. The song has four verses, but only the first is widely known today. The lyrics are taken from the poem "The Defense of Fort McHenry," written on September 14, 1814, by Francis Scott Key

Say, can you see
By the dawn's early light
What so proudly we hailed
At the twilight's last gleaming?
Whose broad stripes and bright stars
Through the perilous fight
O'er the ramparts we watched
Were so gallantly, yeah, streaming?
And the rockets' red glare
The bombs bursting in air
Gave proof through the night
That our flag was still there
O say, does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave
