#213 ESP32 Web Radio BBC URLs, Raspberry Pi 🥧 Pico RP2040 - and more!
The BBC stopped many of its streaming web radio URLs on 21st March 2021 and consolidated them.

00:00 Welcome Back
00:01 What going on with the BBC?
09:42 BBC Updated URLs
17:11 Arduino vs PlatformIO ESP32 Web Radio Player versions
20:47 Quick chat about the Raspberry Pi Pico RP2040 incl. Thonny IDE
Even worse is that the BBC's ICY (SHOUTcast) format mp3 streams (128kbps) may be living on borrowed time, as the BBC has declared its intention to close them down if insufficient listeners tune in to that format. Given that many older Web Radio players use that format, it would remove those stations at a stroke.
In the meantime, I've found the complete list of current BBC URLs that works well enough on my ESP32 Web Radio player (with one, very minor, code change) so at least we can listen to the daily does of BBC Radio 4's "The Archers" again!
Going forward, not only is the ability to read playlist files (.pls) going to essential, so will the ability to read encrypted, TLS audio streams, according to the BBC. Never a dull moment.
I'm also looking for your views on the new Raspberry Pi Pico ARM Cortex M0 RP2040 device!
