President Yoon Suk Yeol vowed to pay more attention to people in need and create a happier society, as he marked Buddha's Birthday.
On Wednesday, the South Korean leader attended a ceremony at Jogyesa Temple in central Seoul to mark two-thousand five-hundred-and-sixty-eight years since the birth of Buddha.
Yoon thanked the Buddhist community, the country's second largest religious group, for upholding the teachings of Buddha, which still plays a pivotal role in keeping society healthy.
Noting that their Zen meditation contributes to improving mental health, he said the government will support the Buddhist community's efforts to care for people's minds.
Yoon pledged to strengthen his outreach to those in need, and pay meticulous attention to small details of people's livelihoods to increase happiness in the country.
With Teachers' Day also falling on this Wednesday, Yoon also thanked teachers for their devotion and care.
