In the wake of possible budget re-allocation, THE SKIN DEEP worked with Richmond, CA Police Chief Bisa French to foster conversations that revealed the depth and complexity of the woman behind the badge and the relationships in her life. This week we will be sharing that story across multiple days and conversations. Bisa and her son Robert discuss her role as a Police Chief and Robert growing up in a household where his parents are both police officers. Robert is now looking to go to law school to become a Public Defender. Bisa sees Public Defenders as those who are usually fighting for people who victimized others, while Robert sees it as keeping everyone accountable -- including the police and prosecutors.
