Boring head - shaft modification

Boring head - shaft modification

I bought this 75 mm boring head for a very low price. The shaft is 20 mm with an M12 inside thread, which I think was turned down probably from a morse taper.
As my milling machine has a Schaublin W20 spindle the OD was a perfect fit. I therefor milled a keyway in the shaft and turned a small tapered ring that was shrink fitted to the shaft, so the shaft fits perfectly to the W20 spindle.
I didn't wan't to shorten the shaft and cut an outside thread to fit the draw in bar as I might do a conversion of the spindle to ISO30. So the object was to remove as little material as possible for possible future alterations. Instead I made a draw in bar to fit the inside thread of the shaft.

The video was made with primitive means (lots of handheld stuff), but I hope you'll enjoy and find it interesting after all.
