Using several samples from Alice In Chains studio recordings, we get to study Layne Staley's vocal approach. From soaring head voice, low brooding lines to paint-peeling vocal presence, Layne is able to deliver aggression while still sounding a bit subdued through it all. It's his laid back, yet 'in your face' approach that's impossible to replicate. But we CAN learn from it... Putting some ideas in our own voices and be inspired by his tasteful restraint!
