LI'L DARLIN' The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson End Theme Count Basie Version

Most people are familiar with the "HERE'S JOHNNY" theme that opened the TONIGHT SHOW STARRING JOHNNY CARSON for over 3 decades. This was the end title theme song called LI'L DARLIN' that was played by Doc Severinson and the NBC Orchestra as the show ended with credits, with the longest versions usually on Friday night when the week wrapped up. The version heard here that Doc played in the show was the Count Basie version.
The TIME/LIFE "SWING ERA" Remake of LI'L DARLIN (Count Basie Version) is performed here by Bill May and his Orchestra. A 14 album set containing 2 CD's each was made by TIME/LIFE that depicted the various STEREO REMAKES of songs made famous by the BIG BANDS of the 1930's and 1940's such as Glenn Miller, Tommy Dorsey, Benny Goodman, Count Basie, and many others. Most of the remakes were performed by Bill May and his Orchestra and Glen Gray and the CASA LOMA ORCHESTRA. From the 2 CD set R700-11 (EMI-Capitol Music Special Markets 72435-26236-2-4) - The Swing Era: INTO THE 50's.
