To start, this climbing shoe is not simply a Velcro version of the La Sportiva Miura, and this quickly became evident during my research into the shoe. However, even though it is different from the shoe that shares its namesake, the La Sportiva Miura VS is an exceptional climbing shoe. Edging is its forte, but do not think for a second that this shoe is one dimensional. It performs well in virtually every climbing environment.
This shoe can be right for many different people. If you’ve just worn through your first pair of climbing shoes and are looking to take your shoe game up a level, this shoe is a great option. It is also great if you’re looking for a pair of shoes which is as varied as your climbing appetite.
This video review of the shoe covers the pros, cons, and sizing of the shoe:
Pros
-- well-rounded high performance shoe
-- versatile (use it for virtually any type of climbing)
-- amazing at edging
Cons
-- toe hooking
-- crack climbing
Sizing
-- I recommend getting it 1-1.5 sizes below your street shoe size (in US sizes), and then after your first pair you can determine whether or not you should go for a looser or tighter fit
-- expect the shoe to stretch a good bit lengthwise
Our reviewer has worn the La Sportiva Miura VS for the past five (!!) years. His first pair lasted him two years and he had to get it resoled once. His current pair has lasted him one and a half years and he expects it to last much longer.
