"For the Lord sees not as man sees; man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart." (1 Samuel 16:7)

Why is there such a profound disconnect between the way we view reality and the way God sees it? In this sermon for the Fourth Sunday of Lent, we explore the theme of spiritual blindness—a condition we have all shared since the Fall in the Garden of Eden. When humanity chose to judge good and evil based on personal desire rather than God’s character, we lost the ability to see reality clearly.

Drawing from 1 Samuel 16 and John 9, we look at three different responses to God's vision:

💠The Prophet Samuel, who struggled to see past outward appearances but remained obedient to God’s correction.

💠The Man Born Blind, who allowed Jesus to "rub Himself" into his place of blindness, finding healing through the "baptism" of the pool of Siloam.

💠The Pharisees, who were experts in the Law but remained stubbornly blind to the God standing right in front of them.
