Better Than ANY Non-stick Pan | Egg Test in Newly Seasoned Wok | How a Well Seasoned Wok will Cook
In a previous video (linked below) I showed my 3 step process to seasoning any carbon steel or cast iron pan/wok. I seasoned this wok with 6 coats of flaxseed oil. To finish off the seasoning, I fry some green onions and ginger until they are blackened. This helps with imparting a wok hei flavor for when you cook any food in it and the enzymes from the green onions bond with the surface of the wok to make it more non stick. You can also do this with onions or chives. This step does not need to be done before every meal, but can be done whenever you want to touch up your seasoning. For example, if you accidentally strip the seasoning by cooking something very acidic or if you scratch off the seasoning using a metal wok shovel or scrubbing it with an abrasive material when cleaning. You can repeat frying green onions and ginger to repair the seasoning. Now for the ultimate test to any non-stick pan (or WOK)... THE EGG TEST. Is my newly seasoned wok non-stick? Time to watch...
